Framepool, the footage collection run by filmmakers, has entered into a sales and
representation agreement with New Zealand based production company NHNZ. As one of the world’s longest running and most awarded producers of factual content, NHNZ is a prominent supplier to many major international TV channels. Framepool will market a collection of NHNZ’s multifaceted content via its online portal to enable easy access and re-utilization for customers. The agreement includes content of NHNZ’s current as well as future productions.
NHNZ is a global company based in New Zealand with offices in Beijing and Washington DC as well as majority ownership of Singapore-based production company Beach House Pictures. It is one of the largest producers of factual content in the world and the largest documentary production company in the Southern Hemisphere, producing between 50 and 60 hours a year. NHNZ attracts highly regarded and innovative storytellers and filmmakers from all around the world to produce its vast array of programmes every year.
As a major supplier to National Geographic Channels, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, A & E Television Networks and Travel Channel as well as major broadcasters like NHK (Japan), PBS (U.S.), France 5 and ZDF (Germany), NHNZ’s programs are amongst the most watched in the world. From Iowa to Antarctica, each program takes viewers on an unforgettable journey.
The distribution agreement with Framepool focuses on a selection of NHNZ’s HD footage, but also includes material that originated on film. NHNZ’s footage can now be easily researched and accessed via Framepool.com round the clock. Selected clips can be made available for licensing and re-utilization in almost no time.
“One of the reasons why we have chosen Framepool to market our footage is their keywording and indexing approach, which is of a very high standard,” says NHNZ’s Emerging Media Manager Caroline Cook. “The company attaches great importance to the technical correctness of keywords and constantly improves its search engine facilities. This will help interested filmmakers to get easy access to our content.
One can see that Framepool is run by filmmakers themselves, who really understand the needs of their clients – be it creative or advertising customers, producers of factual news or educational resources.”
Ulrike Ziegler, CCO and Founder of Framepool, states: “The quality of NHNZ’s documentaries is outstanding – no wonder that we are very happy that we can now enable our customers immediate access to a huge amount of their really stunning footage.”
