Six months after the opening of TAXI Europe in Amsterdam, Steve Mykolyn adds that office to his current responsibility for TAXI North America announced TAXI Chairman Paul Lavoie today.
In his role Mykolyn leads direct reports Maarten Van Huijstee Executive Creative Director TAXI Europe in addition to ECDs at each of TAXI’s other offices in New York, Toronto, TAXI 2 (Toronto), Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. Mykolyn reports to TAXI Chairman Paul Lavoie who most recently held the CCO role for TAXI Europe.
“Steve has created a remarkable culture of camaraderie and high standards among TAXI ECDs” said Lavoie, “it just makes sense for that family to include Europe”.
“TAXI Europe and all TAXI offices’ leadership structures are lean with strong ties to peers in other places,” explained Rob Guenette, TAXI CEO “this allows operational autonomy while maximizing opportunities for knowledge sharing to everyone’s benefit.”
Characterized as a modern renaissance man, Mykolyn was educated in journalism, he practiced as a designer, migrated to advertising and events, and was an early mover into the digital space in the 90s. He joined TAXI’s multi disciplinary creative culture in November 2000 and has since played a key role with clients and the agency to create the context for successful campaigns for TAXI clients WestJet, Canadian Tire and Koodo among others. Mykolyn is a sought after public speaker and industry judge including Cannes and The One Show. He sits on the Board of Directors of the One Club and D&AD London, the Advisory Board of the Creative Circus and represented Canada at the 2008 Venice Biennale as co-curator of the Canadian Pavilion.
“My approach has always been to foster a shared vision among smart, talented people and Paul has been a great champion of that.” said Mykolyn “it’s really the key to success across disciplines and cultures and Maarten and I have already begun to see results for our clients.”
Paul Lavoie, TAXI founder and Chairman who counts among his credits the Canadian Hall of Legends, Creativity Magazines Top 50, and the Spiess Lifetime Achievement Award sits of the board of VCU Brand Centre and HEC International Advisory Board, will focus on business development and industry leadership.
