The One Club, the world’s foremost non-profit organization devoted to elevating creative work in the advertising industry, will be hosting their first-ever Creative Boot Camp at CUNY Macaulay Honors College in New York City. Students will attend four days of workshops, from January 19-22nd, led by creative directors and designers from around the United States, which will introduce students to the art of creating advertising for clients from initial concepting through the final pitch. The workshops are being sponsored by HP and Goodby Silverstein and Partners.
“We’re thrilled to be able to introduce a new generation to the many opportunities in the worlds of advertising and design,” said Mary Warlick, Chief Executive Officer of The One Club. “We have assembled the leading names in the creative field to introduce these students to opportunities that they may not know exist.”
Workshops will be led by some of the industry’s leading creative names from worlds of advertising and design โ including: Joe Duffy, Kash Sree, Dave Holloway, Dave Arnold (Euro RSCG), Cliff Skeete (Y&R), Francois Grouiller (GSP), Stuart Brown (GSP), Niklas Lilja (GSP), Shameka Brown Barbosa (Uniworld), Desmond Hall (Global Hue), Keith Cartwright (Wieden and Kennedy), Perry Fair (Grey NY), Toni Thompson (McCann), Joanna Jenkins (Global Hue), Vince Smith (Global Hue) and Vann Graves (McCann).
“We have assembled some of the original teaching teams that conducted the workshops in China for the past 8 years,” said Kevin Swanepoel, President of The One Club. “It is exciting to put the method into practice here in the U.S.”
To promote the upcoming Boot Camp, designer Joe Duffy will be using hundreds of pictures of students and creatives from diverse backgrounds to create the faces of advertising great David Ogilvy and design legend Paul Rand, with the message: “Diversity will change the face of Advertising and Design.”

In 1995, The One Club established an education department, dedicated to fostering the creative talents of advertising students nationwide. The department administers scholarships to outstanding students in advertising programs at a variety of advertising schools across the country.
