Alturas Films produced the film, entitled “SPY MOVIE“, with director Michael Mann giving it a realistic movie trailer look and feeling. Marshall Rawlings was EP and Roger Hunt producer for Alturas Films. Shot at night on the streets of downtown Los Angeles the spot’s hero stays “one step ahead” of his frustrated pursuers, which begs the question, “how does he do it?”. This is answered by the hero’s ability to tap into the blackberry’s many Apps which gives him the upperhand, however many high tech gadgets and “goons” the pursuers have at their command.
A 90 second spot designed for internet usage brings together a multi-level digital landscape. The consumer can go to a website referenced in the spot and enter their facebook profile which is then integrated into the spot, at once becoming the “hero”. The idea taps into the public’s preoccupation with social applications based very much in the present while hinting at a futuristic reality where we are dependent upon our ability and access to the latest communication technologies.
