New York Festivals Announces the debut of two new awards presented in the 2009 NYF Advertising in All Media Awards. For the first time in 52 years, the competition will recognize the creative excellence and ingenuity of the boutique advertising agency; in addition the competition will honor the year’s best new advertising agency. The newly launched awards, Boutique Agency of the Year and Best New Agency are designed to showcase smaller creative shops as well as up and coming shops.
“We realize that in most competitions only the large networked agencies win Agency of the Year, but we also recognize that there are agencies out there that are doing great work and are simply being overshadowed because their awards budgets are small in comparison. It’s our goal to make sure we recognize great work from anyone, anywhere, from the three person shop in someone’s apartment to the 5 story building downtown,” said Michael O’Rourke, NYF’s President.
The Boutique Agency of the Year will be selected from agencies that are not affiliated with any agency networks and have less than 75 employees.
The new award categories level the playing field allowing boutique agencies the opportunity to compete against each other for the newly minted award.
In addition to the Boutique Agency of the Year, NYF has created the Best New Agency award to recognize those upstart agencies. The new award allows agencies in business for less than two years to compete and be recognized for their creative achievements, their ability to garner international exposure and the impact their work has on the marketplace.
The 2009 NYF Advertising competition received entries from 71 countries and recognizes work in all media in the following 11 competitions: television/cinema, print, outdoor, digital & interactive, avant-garde, design, mixed media, collateral, art & technique, radio and student advertising. All NYF award winners are selected by an international Grand Jury of 260 Senior Creative Directors, representing the most innovative and creative minds from 55 countries worldwide.
Finalists for this year’s competition will be announced in mid-May. All winning entries of the New York Festivals International Advertising Competition are featured in our Showcase section of our website www.newyorkfestivals.com.
