The Venice Green Loft completed construction this week and is providing a work environment where film and television projects can reduce their carbon footprint. As the entertainment industry focuses in on the idea that people can and should motivate themselves into saving the environment, Green Loft provides producers an environmentally friendly location for film, television or video projects.
Many different organizations and independent film projects have already offset their carbon emissions and adopted sustainable practices. Green Loft delivers an architecturally stunning building and sustainable setting to lead the way in continuing this practice.
The Green Loft on Rose embodies a focused effort to honor and recognize a greener way to live and work. Inspired by the movie An Inconvenient Truth, the owners were determined to build eco-friendly, multi-use buildings in the Los Angeles area. Phase I of Green Loft completed this week with installation of solar powered landscape lighting. The entire location, now runs off solar power.
Working Green
Green Loft opens their doors as a carbon neutral production location for film, television, and video. Serving the entertainment industry, this uniquely designed structure reduces working environmental impact with a green location that becomes an intrinsic part of making film and television production. As the entertainment industry focuses on preserving the environment, this green location provides the perfect project environment.
Sustainable Focus
Green Loft filtered each step in their planning, demolition, and construction process with the environment at forefront. Recycling materials from the original structure and an eco-friendly focus on all procurement and construction management were maximized throughout the project. Materials used in the building are all sustainable; Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood, recycled content steel, energy star appliances, photovoltaic energy production, and thermal solar hot water systems.
LEED Friendly
By following Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program parameters, every design and planning decision was made green with a focus on sustainability and minimal environmental impact. The location was developed to achieve LEED Platinum designation and reach the maximum points on GreenPoint checklist from Build It Green.
