Design/ production studio Blind Visual Propaganda has added executive producer Elizabeth Hummer and expanded its team of designers. Hummer brings extensive live-action experience to the Santa Monica-based shop, which is best known for its motion graphics work. The company was founded in 1995 by design director Chris T. Do and art director Jessie Huang.
Hummer formerly ran the creative services production department for cable network HBO, New York. And as an independent producer, Hummer created brand promotion for PBS, the SciFi Channel, TLC and Kingworld.
Joining Blind’s design team are David Kernan, Thomas Koh, Rick Spitznass and Lawrence Wyatt. Kernan previously served as a designer at Southern California studio Buz Design Group. Koh’s resume, while at Hollywood-based yU+co., included designing main titles for The Thomas Crown Affair, The Education of James Kaan and New Line’s forthcoming Lost Souls. Spitznass’ credits prior to Blind were titles for SuperCop 2, Dial H for Hitchcock and FOX Television’s Ryan Caulfield: Year One, as well as a promo for the Showtime original movie Rated-X. And Wyatt freelanced as a designer/director, creating animated concepts for commercials, and for theatrical promo work that included design treatments for local radio station KCRW, film titles, and logos for independent studios.
Among Blind’s resources are 10 design and animation workstations with G4 Power Macs running After Effects Photoshop and Illustrator. Additionally, Blind has an Avid Xpress, an uncompressed Avid Media Composer 1000, and a Discreet Flint used for onlining finished commercials. This diverse tool set provides the Blind Team with creative flexibility and the ability to be involved in a project from conception to completion.
Recent Blind projects include the design of a new logo for Pontiac Worldwide and the creation of a new end tag/logo for the Pontiac Aztec campaign, directed by Jonas Frick of bicoastal/international @radical.media via D’Arcy, Los Angeles and Detroit. Blind has also produced animation for an MCI/ Worldcom campaign via Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/ Euro RSCG, New York, and a new design of the Kodak logo for two new campaigns directed by Jake Scott of bicoastal RSA USA and Jeff Lovinger of New York-headquartered Lovinger Mahoney Adelson via Ogilvy & Mather, New York. Additionally, Blind has just wrapped titles for a documentary titled Dog Town, by pro skater-turned-filmmaker Stacy Peralta.
