SonicPool, one of Hollywood’s leading post facilities, specializing in audio and video finishing, edit suite rentals, and full post-production services, has completed the online, the color and numerous visual effects for the horror/thriller film project entitled “Edgar Allen Poe’s Ligeia.” The announcement was made by John Frost and Patrick Bird, co-founders, SonicPool.
SonicPool’s Jason Yanuzzi took “Ligeia,” a film shot on super 35 and converted to D5, and performed a tape-based DI. He explains, “This film had about 20 real VFX shots, but over 2,500 smaller FX moments that needed a lot of attention. We provided things like speed ramps, solarizations, color FX, adding film grain for mood, recreating flashes, and seamless roto-scoping as required throughout. It was highly cost effective and efficient for the producers to utilize SonicPool for these services. Also, we were able to provide regular updates to the offline edit, since the producers continued re-shooting scenes even while we will doing our online work.”
“Ligeia” editor Danny Saphire said, “”It was a great advantage to have a DI artist who was also conforming the picture. Jason Yanuzzi combines the artist’s eye with unparalleled technical know-how. SonicPool was very accommodating to all our editorial needs. I hope this is the first of many collaborations with Sonic Pool and Jason. In fact, SonicPool is providing the editing system on my next project, a remake of Stephen King’s ‘Children of the Corn’ for the Sci-Fi channel and FOX-TV.”
