Campos Creative Works (CCW,) one of the world’s top producers of business to business and experiential marketing events, has been signed to produce Toyota’s onsite sponsorship presence for the 2008 season at eight triathlons as part of Toyota’s “Engines of Change” program promoting their Hybrid Synergy Driveยฎ vehicles. The announcement was made today by Julio Campos, the company’s Founding Partner & Creative Director.
“We are pleased and excited with the creative and execution that CCW is currently producing for our ‘Engines of Change’ sponsorship of these triathlon events, and we are sure the results will be terrific,” said Petra Langer, Toyota Engagement Marketing.
Added Jeff Salmon, CCW president, “CCW’s objective on behalf of Toyota is two fold. First, we wish to leverage Toyota’s involvement within the triathlon community in order to gain their trust, admiration and advocacy, while, secondly, demonstrating the relevance — and leadership — of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Driveยฎ vehicles to a wide audience through a series of wonderfully creative experiential marketing events.”
ABOUT TOYOTA’S ENGINES OF CHANGE PROGRAM:
Toyota’s on-site triathlon event space for the eight triathlons will be known as the “Engines of Change Zone.” The triathlon events featuring the “Engines of Change Zone” began in April and will continue through October, 2008, taking place in the cities of Miami, San Francisco, Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Malibu, CA, and Dallas.
The “Zone” will feature three relevant interactive vehicle displays customized by world-class Elite Athletes from the triathlon community. Each vehicle will present a narrative voice-over by one of these Elite Athletes, with each athlete pointing out key characteristics of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive® vehicles, as well as how these vehicles are relevant to their respective training regimens and lifestyles.
Promoting Toyota’s Prius, with the theme of “Advanced Technology,” will be Male Olympic/ITU Triathlete of the Year as well as the Male Multisport Non-ITU Athlete of the Year, Andy Potts.
Promoting Toyota’s Camry Hybrid, with the theme of “A Mindful and Efficient Use of Technology,” will be US Open Champion and U.S. National Triathlon Champion, Sarah Haskins who recently qualified for the US Olympic Triathlon Team in Beijing this summer.
And, promoting Toyota’s Highlander Hybrid, with the theme of “Exciting Performance,” will be 6 Time US Elite National Champion and Beijing ITU World Cup Winner, Hunter Kemper who also qualified for the US Olympic Triathlon Team.
Each of the three Toyota vehicle presentations in the “Engines of Change Zone,” will offer free activities for visiting guests. These activities will include visitors taking photos with Andy Potts, downloading a wallpaper image to their cell phones from Sarah Haskins, and downloading a ring tone from Hunter Kemper. At select races, the Elite Athletes will also be making personal appearances to provide training clinics, and will be signing autographs.
Another interactive offering expected to be popular with visitors to the “Engines of Change Zones” will be the “Tree of Change” program, in which guests will write down on a hangtag why they compete, support an athlete, or enjoy the triathlon sport. These “reasons” will then be hung on the “Tree of Change,” and, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Toyota will plant a tree each time a “Tree of Change” submission has been received. ABOUT TOYOTA’S “HYBRID SYNERGY DRIVEยฎ”
Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive® is a set of hybrid car technologies developed by Toyota and used in that company’s Prius, Highlander Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, Lexus RX 400h, Lexus GS 450h, and Lexus LS 600h/LS 600hL automobiles. It combines an electric drive and a continuously variable transmission. The Hybrid Synergy Drive® is a drive-by-wire system with no direct mechanical connection between the engine and the engine controls: both the gas pedal/accelerator and the gearshift lever in an HSD car merely send electrical signals to a control computer.
