SHORT CUTS
Editor Renny Maslow of Editing Concepts, New York, cut three :30s for Sure and Grey Worldwide, New York. "Dinner," "Guy Gift Shopping" and "Reply All" feature scenarios in which one gets "that sinking feeling." In "Dinner," a man tells his date to order anything she wants, to which she responds, "escargot, foie gras, caviar and lobster." "Guy Gift Shopping" features a guy buying lingerie for his girlfriend, and a close encounter with a saleswoman. And in "Reply All," a woman types an e-mail about how "last night was magical," and winds up sending it to the entire company. The ads were directed by J. Brown for Porter Film Company, Hollywood. Additional Editing Concepts credits include assistant editor Rebecca Beluk, executive producer Nancy Finn and producer Nicole Sciarrillo.
Dallas-based Hothaus Creative completed an on-air graphics package for KPIX-TV, San Francisco, and its Eyewitness News program. The idea was for the redesign to introduce a clean, elegant yet energetic graphic style to its news presentation. Hothaus designer Lawrence Garza headed up the creative end on Macintosh, using Adobe Photoshop. Post was completed at parent company Video Post & Transfer, Dallas, using Softimage 3-D and Discreet Logic’s Flame. Garza teamed with Flame compositor/editor John Schleef and 3-D animator Debbie Dunning to complete the job.
