Curious Pictures, New York, completed work on a series of promos for Nickelodeon entitled "Toonz Caught on Tape!" Directed by Steve Oakes, the mixed-media spots feature various Nickelodeon Nicktoons characters caught on surveillance cameras while misbehaving around the animation studio. The spots include SpongeBob SquarePants harassing his animation workers, and CatDog abusing office equipment. In addition to Oakes, Curious credits include producer/DP Josh Porter, DP Tom Lucak, set designer Hunt Squibb, editor Anthony Orkin and 2-D animator Damon Ciarelli.
Flipside Editorial has expanded its equipment arsenal with the addition of Discreet Logic’s Flame. The San Francisco-based editorial boutique already currently uses the Smoke and Combustion, as well as Quantel’s Editbox, Avid Media Composer, 3D Studio Max and After Effects.
Maura Corey of Green, Santa Monica, edited two :90 PSAs for Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation (SSVHF),the non-profit organization founded by Steven Spielberg to produce a living history of the Holocaust. The PSAs were conceived and produced by June Beallor, founding executive director of the SSVHF. Corey worked directly with Beallor in editing the spots, employing existing footage of the Shoah Foundation, behind-the-scenes footage from the making of Schindler’s List, and material from the Foundation’s archives. The spots debuted during a telecast of Schindler’s List last month.

AudioBanks, Santa Monica, mixed and created sound design for three :30s for Taco Bueno and agency Mendelsohn|Zien Advertising, Los Angeles. "Fight/Nacho," "Swimming/Burrito" and "Bad News/Burrito" spoof Mexican soap operas, with scenes from daytime dramas are dubbed over with comical, English translations. Chris Winston of AudioBanks was mixer/engineer/sound designer, with Christie Cash executive producing.
Walter Werzowa of Hollywood-headquartered Musikvergnuegen, composed and produced the musical score for the upcoming Dimension Films release Mimic 2. The film, set for release later this year, is the sequel to the 1997 horror film about mutant insects capable of imitating the human form. Werzowa’s score mixes orchestral music with hip hop and rave-inspired rhythms.
