Award-winning directing team South District has joined LA-based Wild Plum for commercial representation.  The team’s distinct documentary aesthetic with unparalleled storytelling makes them one of the most exciting creative forces in the documentary and ad world today.

After years of freelance directing and editing, filmmakers Adam Goldberg and Dan Marks teamed up to form South District just three years ago.  Prior to that, each had amassed great success in their work for HBO and ESPN, among others, garnering 7 Emmy Awards, a Clio, and a prestigious Peabody Award for their work on HBO’s 24/7 series and ESPN’s 30 for 30.  They have applied their visual style and storytelling to their ad work, which includes clients like Nike, Taylor Made, New Balance, Beats, and Lexus, to name a few.

“We are so excited to bring together Wild Plum and South District,” says Wild Plum Executive Producer Shelby Sexton.  “We are cut from the same cloth and both love telling great stories within advertising.  I can’t wait to see the opportunities that come our way in the future with Adam and Dan.”

The ability to handle creative from start to finish makes South District unique.  Goldberg is a renowned director/producer with extensive experience in the high-end documentary world.  Marks conversely is a decorated director/editor, twice winning the Sports Emmy for Best Sports Editing.  As a team, the build on each others’ strengths and are able to carefully craft projects from initial concept through final delivery.

“We’re really looking forward to taking our formula to the next level,” says Goldberg.  “We’ve had some great success in our three years as a team and in joining forces with Wild Plum, we’ll expand our network.  We can’t wait to work with new clients and brands that we may not have had contact with otherwise.”

Marks adds, “We approach storytelling, whether it’s a feature-length film or a 30-second spot, the same way, with the same focus and intensity.  But each has it’s own challenges and we’ve had a lot of fun and satisfaction out of the short-form commercial work we’ve done.  At the same time, we’ve only scratched the surface in the ad world and can’t wait to do more and more in that space.”

“The great thing about South District is that they’ve done such amazing work already, they’re a proven entity,” continues Sexton.  “You can see their product and easily can envision the great commercial work that they will continue to do.  We’re honored that they have chosen to join our team to introduce them to the broader advertising community.”

South District joins a Wild Plum roster that includes visual storyteller Fergus Stothart, the comedic mind of Trevor Cornish, Justin Leibow, who seamlessly blends live action film with stunning graphic design, Katie Bell, a lifestyle filmmaker with an emphasis on children, and doc-style/testimonial, cinematic storyteller Ben Ross.
